Usually I do not post on posts, but I would like to say that this site really forced me to do it! Thanks, very good post. falling behind on mortgage payments is not something you want to willingly do; in fact, every measure possible should be taken in order to avoid that scenario.

Hi Justin

It's good to know I'm not alone in thinking this. Hard sell copywriting is redundant and it's time to move on.

Hi Jen

I'm not too sure, but that sounds about right. I had the 'McGurgles' after this 'experience' and didn't think about questioning it further, the truth might have been too scary!

Comment by 'Justin Norris' on Hard Sell Copywriting - Does the 'magic' really work?

Hey Aaron -- I couldn't agree more.

This is a topic area I've been thinking and writing a a lot about lately, and I've come to the same conclusion. The old-school formula just seems broken beyond repair to me.

The language is hackneyed and the whole experience of reading it is disrespectful. Perhaps there was a time when this format was used skillfully (you can still see examples today) and I guess this is why some truly respected and successful copywriters have used it.

But for me, it's a relic of another time, and I can't imagine things being sold this way in the future.

Good post.

A great post and a great blog. It's probably an urban myth but I heard 100% Australian Beef is the name of the company the 'restaurant' buys its meat from, not an actual description of the ingredients.
